Reflection

This class helped with understanding the educational issues surrounding students with disabilities and learning to be an effective teacher.  

Objective

  1. Students demonstrate an understanding of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs, as they seek the integration of faith and learning in the classroom. (*SLO 1) 
  1. Students demonstrate skillful teaching dispositions based on current research, including the pedagogical knowledge necessary in the teaching and learning process, in the area of exceptional children. (*SPED 1/4,5; 2/6-10; InTASC 1,2,3,7; PPR 2/2; SLO 2,3,4; TAC TS 
  1. Students demonstrate a commitment to service as they participate in outreach activities related to the content of this course. (*InTASC 10, SLO, 9) 
  1. Students recognize and demonstrate respect for diversity by employing effective classroom strategies in a diverse setting. (*InTASC 2, SLO 7) 
  1. Students demonstrate knowledge of the 13 disability categories, including identification, characteristics and teaching approaches. (*SPED 1/4, InTASC 4, SLO 4; TAC TS 4) 
  1. Students understand the role of formal and informal assessment in making instructional decisions for students with disabilities. (*SPED 1/5, InTASC 6, PPR 3/1,3; SLO 6; TAC TS 5)

  1. Students understand and apply knowledge related to transition issues for students with disabilities. (*SPED 2/9; InTASC 1, 9; SLO 2; TAC TS 4;)
